SEO for B2B SaaS

SaaS SEO that shows up in the pipeline report.

Software is rarely bought by one person. An end user feels the problem, a champion builds the shortlist and someone with budget signs the order form. Each of them searches differently, and most of the shortlist is settled before your sales team hears a name. We build the pages that get you on it, and we report on demos and trials, not sessions.

Quick answer

SaaS SEO is search optimisation for software companies that sell to businesses. It targets the searches a buying committee makes before talking to sales: problem and use-case queries, integration searches, comparisons with named competitors, alternatives, pricing and reviews. Success is measured in demo requests, trials and influenced pipeline, not traffic on its own.

Who searches

One purchase. Three different searches.

Gartner says the typical buying group for a complex B2B solution involves six to 10 decision makers. We plan pages around the three roles we see most often, because a page written for all of them convinces none.

The path to a quote

From problem search to closed-won.

Gartner's research found B2B buyers spend only 17% of their buying time meeting potential suppliers. The rest happens without you, and a lot of it happens in search.

1

Name the problem

Someone hits a wall in a spreadsheet or a rival tool and searches the job to be done. Tutorials, templates and your help centre answer here, and they introduce the product without a pitch.

2

Find the category

Once they know software exists for it, they search "best" lists and review sites. You need category and use-case pages of your own, and complete, current profiles on G2 and Capterra.

3

Build the shortlist

The champion searches comparisons, alternatives and integrations. This is where most SaaS sites are thinnest, and where an honest comparison page can change who makes the final three.

4

Validate the choice

The buying group checks reviews, pricing, security pages and implementation effort. Pages that answer procurement's questions shorten the cycle more than another case study PDF.

5

Convert and attribute

A demo or trial form captures the landing page, first touch and a "how did you hear about us" field, written into the CRM so organic shows up in pipeline reports, not only in GA4.

What we do

What we do for SaaS companies

One retainer for the pages that decide shortlists, plus the tracking that proves it.

Comparison and alternative pages

Your product against named competitors, and "[competitor] alternatives" pages that admit where the rival is stronger. The FTC's policy on comparative advertising encourages naming competitors, provided claims are truthful and the basis of the comparison is clear. We date every comparison and update it when either product ships.

Integration pages that earn their URL

One page per integration you actually support, explaining what syncs, which way, how setup works and what it's for. Not three hundred auto-generated templates: Google's spam policies call out pages generated at scale without adding value as scaled content abuse.

Use-case and industry pages

Pages built around the jobs people hire your product for and the teams that buy it, with real workflows and screenshots, so a finance lead and an ops lead each land on the page that speaks their language.

Docs and help centre as an SEO asset

Your documentation already answers hundreds of specific questions. We make sure it's crawlable, internally linked to product pages, and structured so the best answers can rank and be quoted by AI tools.

Review site profiles

G2 and Capterra profiles kept complete, with review requests sent to all customers, not only happy ones. Worth knowing: in January 2026 G2 announced an agreement to acquire Capterra, Software Advice and GetApp from Gartner, so these platforms may change how they work.

Pipeline attribution

GA4 events for demos and trial sign-ups, hidden source fields in forms, a self-reported attribution question, and CRM reporting on organic-sourced and organic-influenced pipeline. We also track how ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews describe you against competitors.

Where the budget goes

SEO, paid search or review sites?

Most SaaS teams run all three. They earn their keep at different points in the journey.

The plan

Your first 90 days

What the first quarter looks like for a SaaS company with an existing site and customers. Here's why timelines vary.

Month 1

Map the committee

Keyword research by buyer role and stage, a competitor content gap, a crawl of the marketing site and docs, and CRM attribution fields agreed with your RevOps or sales lead.

Month 2

Ship the decision pages

The first comparison and alternative pages for the competitors you meet most in deals, integration pages for your most-used connections, and a pricing page that answers the questions sales keeps getting.

Month 3

Scale what converts

Use-case pages for your strongest segments, docs fixes and internal links to product pages, a review request to your whole customer base, and the first report on demos, trials and pipeline from organic.

Frequently asked questions

How much does SEO cost for a SaaS company?

Our SEO retainer is $1,199 a month, published on our packages page. It covers technical work, decision pages, docs fixes, links and pipeline reporting. SaaS teams often pair agency work with in-house writers or product marketers, and that's a good fit. For how our price sits in the wider market, see how much SEO costs.

How long until SEO shows up in pipeline?

Comparison and integration pages for specific competitors and tools can rank within a few months, because fewer pages target them. Broad category terms are contested by review sites and big vendors, and take longer. Pipeline lags rankings by your sales cycle, so a 60-day cycle means organic revenue shows up a couple of months after the traffic does.

Can we name competitors on comparison pages?

Yes, with care. The FTC's policy statement on comparative advertising encourages naming competitors, as long as claims are truthful, not deceptive and the basis of the comparison is clear. We date every comparison, link to public sources for pricing and features, and update pages when either product changes. Your legal team signs off before anything goes live.

Can we offer gift cards for G2 or Capterra reviews?

Be careful. The FTC's Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule, in effect since October 21, 2024, bars incentives that require a review to express a particular sentiment, and requires insiders to disclose their relationship to your business. Each review site also has its own rules. We ask all customers for honest reviews, not just the happy ones.

How is this different from startup SEO?

This page is for software companies that already have customers, competitors and a sales process. The work leans on what that gives you: comparison pages from real deals, integration pages, docs and pipeline reporting. If you're pre-launch or still finding product-market fit, the priorities are different, and we'll say so on the first call.

Can you guarantee a top ranking for our category term?

No. Nobody controls Google's results, and category terms are crowded with review sites, listicles and vendors with large budgets. We commit to the monthly work, transparent reporting and tracking organic through to pipeline. We'll also tell you which searches are realistic in the next six months and which are a longer climb.
