How We Built It

We started from zero. No campaign history, no quality score, no existing data. Every structural and strategic decision was made from scratch, in a niche where most platforms would rather not touch you.

01
Product-Based Campaign Structure
Campaigns were organized around individual products rather than broad categories. This gave us granular control over bidding, budget allocation, and performance data at the product level.
02
Bottom-of-Funnel Keywords Only
We targeted transactional, high-intent search terms exclusively. No awareness traffic. No educational queries. Every keyword was chosen because the person searching was ready to buy.
03
Target CPA Bidding
To protect return on ad spend from day one, we used Target CPA rather than maximizing clicks. This kept the algorithm accountable to conversion efficiency, not volume.
04
Negative Keyword Discipline
In a restricted niche, irrelevant traffic is expensive. We built and continuously maintained a negative keyword list to filter out search queries that would not convert, protecting budget and Quality Score.
What We Were Up Against

Running paid search in a restricted wellness niche is not straightforward. Policy constraints, copy limitations, and platform sensitivities created barriers that required a different kind of precision.

Ad Policy Hurdles
01Google's health and wellness ad policies restricted the language we could use in copy. Certain product descriptors triggered disapprovals, requiring careful testing and resubmission to get ads running.
02Some product terms were flagged at the keyword level, requiring individual vetting before inclusion. Each addition to the campaign carried the risk of triggering a policy review.
03Standard audience retargeting was not available for this category. Strategy had to rely entirely on search intent signals rather than behavioral or interest-based targeting.
Niche Constraints
01Building Quality Score from zero in a category with limited advertiser history is slower and more expensive. Early CPCs were higher until the account earned a performance track record Google could trust.
02Competitors were bidding on the same brand and product terms, inflating costs for the highest-intent queries. Tight bid management and negative keyword lists kept spend efficient.
03The same FDA and regulatory constraints that limited organic content applied here. Ad copy had to remain compliant without losing the persuasive clarity needed to convert at a high rate.
